I first got affected by this GPS bug a couple of weeks ago.
so what is this bug?
I believe it first started with HTC Titan II users, who complained about the GPS locking their location in Akron, Ohio, irrespective of your location the GPS would always say you are in Akron. Akron is a city in Ohio, that’s actually Lebron James home city (if you are into basketball).
well, it seems to have spread to Lumia 900 users as more and more users are getting the bug.
so what do we know about the bug?
it’s important to note that it happens irrespective of the map app you use.
it’s happening only on LTE windows phones (htc titan II and Lumia 900)
it seems to happen when you have low battery on your phone.
Here are At&t users complaining about the bug
There’s also a topic in Nokia Forum on the GPS issue
Nokia (who have the best customer service) have already acknowledged the problem and were quick to note that htc titan II users were also getting it to.
Fingers are now being pointed at At&t and their buggy LTE coverage.
have you experienced this problem?
the temporal solution so far is to either charge your phone or do a power cycle (turn phone off and on)
you can also try turning LTE off on your phone, here is how to do that.
