Does everyone remember that Nokia killed MeeGo and replaced it with Windows Phone? Of course you do. Now does everyone remember that everyone from Nokia claims that MeeGo will still live on in other OS. In the form of the gestures, the transitions etc..
Does anyone out there think that Nokia was just saying that to make you feel better about the transition to Windows Phone? Plus to stop you from throwing things at your computer monitor. (Side Note I tried that I does not change anything well….expect what I had for lunch that day)
I come here bearing good news! As for as I can tell Nokia was serious! They put it down on paper than gave it SEC and everything! (So if it’s on paper than given to the government it must be true because a lawyer looked at it I’d bet.) Buried in this behemoth report was this nugget on the bottom of page 53.
During 2011, we also launched the Nokia N9, the outcome of efforts in our MeeGo program..(blah, blah, blah)..Under our new strategy, MeeGo has become an open-source, mobile operating system project with an emphasis on longer-term market exploration of next-generation devices, platforms and user experiences. We aim to bring a variety of innovations that emerge from our MeeGo program as well as learnings from the Nokia N9 to future products.
So it sound like Nokia is actually pretty serious about using MeeGo in future devices. The question remains which ones and how long are we going to have to wait for them?
Plus a big old thanks to @jhaggett for finding that tiny MeeGo part in amongst all those pages
