The chart above shows percentage of market share for all major OS’s in the two week period directly following the Nokia Lumia launch in Finland. The red indicates a loss in market share.
As you can see almost all other OS’s lost market share during this period except for Android who gained market share during the first week of the launch only to lose most of that ground again during the second week.
While this is certainly good news for Nokia let’s be fair about it. This is Finland, Nokia’s home turf so one would expect the Lumia to sell well there. Also 2.52% is far cry from all the other major OS’s in Finland. In fact if you would add up the use of MeeGo (aka Maemo 6) and Maemo 5 it comes to the same 2.52% market share. So while this is not a home run hit for Nokia out of the gates perhaps we can call it a single and at this point. Nokia should be happy just to have someone on base at this point.
