Here is a quick heads up for everyone here in the states looking to get their hands on a Lumia 800.
European Nokia Lumia 800 Will Not Work in all parts of the US
There could I make that any clearer?
I don’t want to go on and on in geek speak to you on why, so I will try to give you the readers digest version of the story.
The US uses the GSM 850/1900 bands and the European variant of the Nokia 800 does not support the 850 band. While this is not an issue in major cities where the 1900 band is manly used, it will be an issue in outlaying areas where only the 850 band is used. Or as coming from the Nokia forum:
The Nokia Lumia 800 has two variants:• European Variant – WCDMA HSPA 900/1900/2100 MHz (RM-801)• US Variant – WCDMA HSPA 850/1900/2100 MHz (RM-819)To be able to get the right version, we suggest that you inquire about the RM-Type of the phone you may refer to the information above. We apologise for some misinformations coming from our website, we hope that we have now provided you with a much clearer information regarding the Nokia Lumia 800 frequency bandwidth compatibility.
