In the 3rd Quarter China officially became the world’s largest smartphone consumer with 24 million units sold. The number one supplier of those smartphones? Nokia of course.
Nokia accounted for 28.6% (or 6.8 million units) of all smartphones in the 3rd Quarter. Followed by a distant second by Samsung at 17.6%. Nokia has always had “breaking into the Chinese market” as one of their goals and it looks like they have succeed in a big way.
I am hoping Nokia takes their lessons they learned in China and brings the applicable ones to the US Market. I’d like to hear the Nokia Tune more often when my phone isn’t the one ringing. (even if it’s the “Dubstep”” Nokia Tune)
