While most phone makers have their sites narrowly set on only a few countries Nokia has their eyes set on the world…Case in point India. A country on the rise with a huge population.
According to recent reports Nokia has it’s sites set on India in a big way, in fact Nokia wants Fifty percent of the market share. This according to Nokia India Vice-President and Managing Director D Shivakumar.
“Our target share should always be more than half of the total market…I think we would be able to get there in 2012 by focusing on great innovative products, great delivery and experience at retail points, services and content integration,”
Not only will Nokia be showcasing it’s lower end S40 based ASHA line but, Nokia and Microsoft will be heavily promoting the Window Phones. In fact they have about 12,000 people trained for just this.
“On the day of the launch, all the employees of Nokia’s corporate office in India will be selling phones at stores….”It is the most important launch for us and the benchmark that we have set for ourselves is that it must be the most impactful consumer products launch in the country,”
‘Asha’ phones priced between Rs 4,100 and Rs 8,000. The new Windows Phones at about Rs 29,000 and Rs 19,000. Any takers in India for those prices? Let us know.
