There was an article put out by Marketing Week today that explains the choice of that terrible Nokia Dubstep tune. You can hear itif you want to. (But I would not recommend you do it. Unless you want your ears to bleed)
In summary the article stated that Nokia will now aggressively go after the “next generation of mobile purchasers”.
In fact according to Jon Nichols (Nokia’s head of marketing for the UK and Ireland)
“..we already have a huge youth market but for teenagers we need to ensure that we create the content and partnerships that matter. As a teenager, the brands I loved had an opinion and told me whether to engage with them or not.
“The trick is to remember to not just wade in; otherwise our personality could look like the drunken uncle dancing at the wedding.”
So long time Nokia users I would prepare yourself for more “Nokia Dubstebs” as Nokia’s youth marketing ramps up.
As an aside it was also stated that Nokia will be using more social media presence to engage younger buyers. (So that seems like good news for me? Right?)
