Rich Green Nokia’s CTO Has Been Replaced by Henry Tirri

Earlier this year Nokia’s Chief Technology Officer Richard Green took a leave of absence stating “personal reasons”, ever since than Henry Tirri has been filling in for him.  Now Nokia makes it official with this press release .

Richard Green was Chief Technology Officer since  May 2010 and decided in June to take a leave of absence.  Though it was stated for personal reasons it is widely rumored that the fact Nokia went Windows Phone and not MeeGo was the real reason that he left.

So officially today “Henry Tirri has been appointed executive vice president, Chief Technology Officer and a member of the Nokia Leadership Team, effective September 22, 2011. He reports directly to President and CEO Stephen Elop.”

What do we know about Henry Tirri? Not a whole bunch so I decide to give you a link over to a interview done by Nokia Conversions Back in May of 2010 when he was  Senior Vice President, Head of Nokia Research Center (NRC).

Who are you Dr Henry Tirri?

It kind of saddens me to see Rich Green go….During the whole Windows Phone announcement he seemed to be the lone voice of the Nokia Management team using “plain speak” to let us know out here what exactly was going on in Finland. Here’s wishing the best to you Mr. Green from all of us at Nokia Innovations.
